I’ll get straight to it, in 2025, most website views take place on mobile devices, meaning your recruitment website and various web based tools you have must be at least, mobile friendly.
We host lots of our customer websites and produce reports for them to show how the website is being used, which sections are most popular, what is working well and what can be improved upon. Year upon year, mobile views have accounted to a higher percentage of views than ever before. In 2022 for most of our websites, mobile views actually overtook views from a desktop device for the first time.
For all of our customer websites bar one, the majority of website views originate from a mobile device.
A mobile friendly website will alter it’s layout to cater to a taller, thinner layout. Columns on desktop will cascade and present one after the other on mobile, text sizes may increase to make easier to read and links spaced further apart to make it easier for the user to click with their finger. Images should also be resized to not only adapt to the screen resolution but also ensure the user does not use excessive data allowance when roaming.
For a recruitment website, your job pages and candidate and client portals are the key pages here. The job search filters should be stacked and easily toggled in visibility. Job results should be listed in a single column or two columns maximum if in a grid layout. Each job should be sufficiently spaced to allow the user to select the job they wish to open, without fear of clicking on the wrong part of the screen.
Job detail pages will likely feature an application form. If you choose to show this form beneath the job information, also consider placing an ‘apply now’ button higher up to save the candidate having to scroll the page themselves looking for the application form.
All recruiter websites we create are mobile friendly by default, we do not charge extra for this as we believe it is an essential part of website creation.
We can also retrospectively make your website mobile friendly, contact us if you have an existing website that needs help to make it view better on mobile devices.
Lastly, why not go a step further and have your own mobile app. We created a mobile app for recruiters, your own mobile app on both Apple and Google Play app stores that not only allows candidates to view and apply to your jobs, but features live notifications to their mobile device including messaging facilities.
