AI – some believe is the future, others believe it’s just a fad. One thing is for certain, AI has some major advantages in recruitment. We have implemented AI into many of our recruitment tools which is easily switched on or off.
We thought’s we showcase a few ways we have added AI into our tools to boost your recruitment workflow;
Create AI Candidate Summaries / Cover Letters
We use AI in various ways. One way is to create a candidate summary or cover letter. We provide the candidate skills and experience, asking AI to write a summary for the candidate. We also take this one step further, also providing the job requirements, to ensure the candidate summary relates to the job in question. This provides text such as “Sebastian’s 10 years management experience exceeds the job requirement of 5 years experience…”
Generate AI Client Applicant Summary
Upon receipt of all applications, we use AI to look through all candidates and create a summary document for the client. The summary then goes on to match applications against the job spec and make suggestions on who should be invited to interview.
The client application summary often begins such as; “Your job Web Designer had 20 applications, many candidates had experience in using Figma…”
Use AI to change text
AI can take a block of text and change the way it is written, to become friendlier, more corporate, translate the text and much more. We can even use AI to make text read less “AI”. We’ve all seen a blog post which just reads a little ‘off’ which screams of AI.
AI for Interviewing
We’ve been asked to have AI create interview questions, personally we aren’t 100% sold on this use, but it can give you pointers of the right direction the interview should head down.
AI is an overused term
The term AI is often used as a marketing tool, when no AI is used for many applications. Instead, logic is used to perform the function. A customer asked us to create an AI tool to look through candidates within their system and suggest which ones will be best suited to roles. the customer literally has tens of thousands of candidates within their system.
We’ve been performing tasks like this long before AI came onto the scene, a project such as this requires a search of candidate data, such as
SEARCH candidates WHERE skills INCLUDE “javascript, jquery” AND numberOfYearsExperience >= “5”
Of course, there is more to it than that, but you get the gist. We create a script to loop through candidates to list those whose skills include javascript or jquery and they have 5 years or more experience.
AI is not the tool for this task, good old fashioned logic wins the day for many tasks.
Should your recruitment company use AI?
AI definitely has it’s place, alongside our own useful AI tools, there are literally hundreds of other AI tools helping recruiters to streamline their processes.
But ask yourself, is AI the right tool for the job, orwill AI outperform a human for the task?
Scouring through hundreds of applications quickly to make suggestions is a perfect use case, as is generating text based on input data and definitely an area where all recruiters will see an excellent ROI.
