I gave a talk back in 2009 declaring that views on a mobile will out number views on a desktop computer within five years.
Almost everyone laughed at me.
Three years later in 2012, one of the attendees messaged me to let me know that their website now has 54% mobile views. The same business now has 77% mobile views in 2025.
Ensuring your recruitment business is mobile friendly is more important than ever, if you are not mobile friendly, you are losing a huge chunk of your market.
Candidates at work may not read their personal emails until the evening when they get home, but a notification to their phone is usually read within 20 seconds
We manage lots of recruitment websites, meaning we have access to a plethora of information. Different recruitment sectors have very different viewer stats. For example, an executive recruitment customer stats are pretty much 50/50 desktop vs mobile views. Another in the same sector commonly reports 70/30 in favour of desktop. Recruiters focussing on more manual, or temporary jobs experience around a 90%+ mobile favour.
What does mobile friendly mean?
When you think mobile friendly, you likely assume your customer facing website. For many, this is correct. If 90% of your user base are viewing your website on a mobile, but the website doesn’t work properly on mobile, you are losing a massive amount of revenue.
Mobile friendly also means all areas of your recruitment business.
- Is your team able to access recruitment tools via their mobile if out and about?
- Can candidates log their timesheets via mobile?
- Can clients view their job progress via your app?
- Do you send text messages on the morning of an appointment as a reminder?
- Can you quickly communicate via messaging, either through your app or sms?
Almost everyone carries their mobile with them, meaning being mobile friendly is essential to your recruitment business.
We have created a mobile app for recruiters. Your own app, fully branded to you, featuring your job information, allowing you to communicate directly to candidates.
How to make your recruitment business mobile friendly
Your first step is to test all areas of your business on your mobile.
- Does your website display well on mobile?
- Put yourself in the eyes of a visitor
- Are all pages accessible?
- Can you navigate easily?
- Can you apply for a job?
- Look at your own internal workflow
- Are your tools limited to a desktop?
- If a member of the team is not at a desk (home or office), are they effectively out of action?
- If your tools are mobile friendly, test them out.
- Look where you can improve taking advantage of being mobile friendly
- I booked an appointment with my vet (dog is ok), within a few seconds I received a text to my mobile confirming the appointment. Clicking the link in the text placed the appointment straight into my calendar.

Being mobile friendly, especially for a recruiter, will generate more candidates and clients, more job applications, make you more efficient and streamline your workflow exponentially.
