AI is quickly replacing traditional organic search results, major search engines now provide their AI response before displaying search results. Making sure AI knows and understands your business, so that it can reference you in their responses is the new SEO.
Pop over to a few AI resources, such as ChatGPT or Grok and ask it whether your business is a good business to work with. The result may surprise you. We did exactly this with our main squarechilli brand, here’s a blog explaining how AI sees our business and how we responded to it.
Typical factors AI looks for in a business include
- Customer experiences – positive and negative
- Company established date – are you new or been around a while?
- Physical address and contact details
- Customer testimonials / portfolio
Once you have your AI responses, digest exactly what AI sees as your strengths and weaknesses are. For our various brands (squarechilli, Recruitment SAK (this website), Bullhorn Plugin, Vincere Plugin and Recruiters Websites) our initial weaknesses were seen to be a limited portfolio and small company size.
We agree, our portfolio was limited across our websites. We created a plan to add three initial portfolio pages and add more as and when we had time between client projects. We added these, informed search engines about the pages, waited a week or so for the pages to become fully indexed and then ran the AI audit again. Our portfolio was now listed as a strength, and will be useful for customers browsing our website – win.
As for our company size, we don’t agree with the AI response, and that’s fine. We are a team of 13 making us small enough to provide a personal service and large enough to take on large projects. We have the opportunity to expand through official marketplace memberships with companies we integrate with, however we choose not to, to allow us full autonomy over the projects we undertake.
Here’s a screenshot of how AI sees Recruitment SAK as at 26 August 2026.
As you can see, AI has mostly a positive impression of us. Our company size has again been highlighted. To address this, we plan to add a page or blog post on our support response times and SLA, as we don’t talk about these on our website currently.
AI has picked up that Recruitment Swiss Army Knife is part of the squarechilli group, but failed to pick up our new portfolio pages over on the squarechilli website, so we will either link to our squarechilli portfolio or create a more specific portfolio of Recruitment SAK only projects for this website.
Conclusion – How to improve your recruitment business AI presence
Initially, addressing the items where AI has identified a weakness is your first call. This could be through updating page content on your website or creating a third party review system in our case. Once these are in place, ensure search engines know of your new content by indexing it manually to make sure it is picked up.
Once AI struggles to find anything negative about your recruitment business, it is more likely to reference you more in it’s responses.
Create a blog or news area to talk about popular or interesting topics, giving your own opinions. Ensure these pages are also indexed by all major search engines, so that AI can find them and again reference you in their responses.
Do we see a difference since optimising our websites for AI?
Yes we are seeing a difference, we began optimising squarechilli.co.uk initially. Since optimisation, we have seen a huge increase in AI referral traffic. Just three months ago, Google and Bing accounted for 90% of our traffic, with AI being just 1%. Right now, AI is driving 8% of our traffic, a huge increase for just a few small tweaks.
We are now optimising our other brand websites for AI, hoping for the same results and further optimising squarechilli to see how far we can take it, new blog posts coming as we progress through the journey.
